Veg
Boxes
We
organise a weekly non-profit fruit and veggie box scheme, allowing
you to get fresh, seasonal, local, organic produce at wholesale
prices. It is now common knowledge that many of the fruit and vegetables
bought from supermarkets have been sitting in storage for months
and treated with chemicals to preserve them. With organic produce,
perishable food is always fresh, and you will be amazed at the taste
difference.

Unfortunately
you can't specifically choose what you want, but if there's something
you can't eat or really don't like let us know or you can swap with
someone else. Think of it as a fun surprise every week (which might
also encourage you to try things you wouldn't normally)!
We
order a variety of fruit and vegetables which are in season. This
means that the cost is lower and the produce is fresher and tastier.

Here's
how the scheme works:
Anytime
before midday Tuesday
1.
Drop in to the Food Co-op or the SRC (Level 1, Wentworth Building)
to order your box.
2.
Decide whether you want a $10, $20 or $30 box. If you are unsure
it's a good idea just get a $10 to see what it's like.
3.
Pay for your box. Your name and number will be added to the ordering
book.
Wednesday
afternoon or Thursday
Come
in and pick up your box! Boxes are sorted and around midday Wednesday.
If they are not picked up by Friday (and we haven't heard from you)
the fruit and vegies are sold through the shop so they don't lie
around over the weekend. Obviously, the sooner you pick up your
box, the fresher it will be.
Help sort
Assistance
is always needed to help sort the fruit and veg boxes. It usually
takes around an hour with two people (much less with many people).
The produce is delivered around 11:30am on Wednesday, so if you
have some free time, please drop in for a bit of veg sorting fun!
