Products The food co-op sells a range
of items. Many of these are basic items, such as grains, pulses,
spices, cooking oil, etc., but we also stock environmentally friendly
cleaning products, drinks and snacks. We strive to make sure that
most of our stock is organic and, if imported from overseas, fairtrade.
Most of the food
co-op's products are stored in large barrels. Customers can purchase
as little or as much as they want, always paying the same price
per kilogram. They therefore avoid the considerable price mark-ups
conventional food stores place on food packaged in small quantities.
We encourage people
to bring their own containers, however we also have a limited supply
of assorted reused jars and containers available for a small cost.
These have been donated by co-op members, so if you have any leftover
food jars for whom you'd like to see a fate even less energy-intensive
than recycling, we'll gladly take them (if they're clean).
